its awesome and i love it

it does however need a new axle and hub for the rear right as he stripped the splines on the shaft on his last outting 12 months ago

got a 1600cc VW motor which goes very hard
4 speed gearbox with good clutch lots of lighting and its all good!!

so hopefully when i get back from kal in a couple of weeks i can leave the outback at home and take out my new toy for some serious ass flogging around!!

peace out :D

im getting there..was rather cheap but does need a bit of work..motor has had a full rebuild so should last me untill i work out the subaru motor converstion

but having a broken axel and hub the thing CAN NOT BE DRIVEN untill i replace the two parts caus oil and shit and everything will go everywhere... so hopefully when i get back a few hours worth of swapping parts will be the easy work then i can have some fun

always wanted one of these since before i got into subaru's and now i finally own one im gonna make the most of it.

ive wanted one of these since i was 10, so no wacky bug had nothing to do with it really. after all......it would have been cheaper to buy and old my wagon and hack it up :)

Dave , the swing axel box is very weak .I would not advise fitting a subaru ej22 to it .

now days we use the ej front wheel drive auto or manual gear box and turn it around so the motor is behind your seat .If I recall Matt has a very good front wheel drive auto at his place. The problem you haver is your buggy is swing axel an IRS ( cv ) rear is needed as you make a drive axel adapter from subaru > vw .If you would like to have a look at a set up like this I can give you a number so you can check maxes out .He is nearly 60ie and still building and racing these machines .

was this corries machine ??

For the ej its quite a common conversion so if you word up a good VW shop they should be able to help you out with an adapter plate (you can get these for almost any engine if you know where to look), I've seen an ecotec V6 on a VW plus while your at it ask about getting a lift kit welded in the front mine cost me $200 done in a shop to make sure it was straight (Pre 72 non mcpherson struts) and its an easier job to lower the rear just unbolt the trailing arms then realign them down. Again the VW shop can help you out with this or you could get reduction hubs from a combi but Ive heard these are hard to come by and quite weak! There are some very strong VW boxes out there but I cant remember what to look for but IRS is the go!
Also I take it its a 12 volt set up because the bell housing and everything is different I ground mine out but it might give some complications with the flywheel in a conversion. Hope these tidbits of info help they are tons of fun!

I've heard the combivan gearboxes are the strongest but i'm no expert. Mate of mine used to have a Pervis Eureka which had a Volvo V6 motor adapted to one of those gearboxes and it worked pretty well.

Adaptor plates for heaps of different motors are available for VW bellhousings so shouldn't be a problem.

U guys are forgetting Dave has an awesome car trailer so transport shouldn't be an issue!

Looks like it will be great fun Dave, I'll have to be careful I don't run over you in WackyBug once she gets her new shoes :)
