signs your clutch is on it way!

Post by Captain Obvious » Sun Aug 05, 2007 8:15 pm

went for a run down to rainbow beach today and coming back off the beach at freshwater camp ground (still had hard tyres) i had to back off a little and cause i did the revs droped so a faned the clutch and gave it a boot and the revs went around to 5000rpm and i let the smoke out of the clutch!! stinks real bad that stuff!

so i let the car idle for 5 while i let the tyres down and it was ok after that, but it wont last much longer :(

Like anything, once the smoke is out, no going to be the same again...

Seeing as you'll have the engine out, you may as well whack a bigger turbo on while your there!

Never a nice smell hehe.
Lemme guess...you had to downgrade to a push-type clutch to allow you to run the dual range gearbox. Turbo's really need a propper turbo clutch, a pull-type. The NA ones can only last so long even with a heavy duty pressure plate :(
Mine's still holding up after a year of punishment but I'm sure it will slip soon!
