car hangs low at back

Post by suba_dooba » Thu Apr 19, 2007 1:43 am

hey. as you might know just recently got a 3" lift and i have noticed my car hangs low at the back. is there a reason for this and if so can it be fixed? there have been a few who suggested things but no one has really put thioer finger on the problem.
any help would be appreciated

cheers
Sean

gto some 2wd rear struts. reason being is the spring base plate on 4wd struts sits physically lower on the strut that 2wd ones, putting less pressure on the spring allowing the shock to compress more. If you get 2 wd shocks im pretty sure the base is around 15 - 20mm higher. This is what i was told after i sold my L. this problem bugged me heaps too but i never got round to fixing it

2WD rear struts? The spring base sits lower than the 4WD versions making the rear sit lower.

I had the same problem when i lifted my L series and it came back to the coil. Touring wagon coils are the firmest of the coils if you havent go a pair try them otherwise touring wagon kings ended up fixing my problem.

measure from the mounting bolt to base plate.150mm is good ,125mm is not.Ive got kings springs on kyb shocks and you can move the spring around .The shocks have a 125mm high base plate. Also have a look at the rear shock spacers you may have a 2" one .

exactly. you will find with 4wd kyb, when u jack the car up you can rattle the king spring in the strut, this shouldn't happen with 2ws ones

Ok, KYB do it differently to everybody else, or does everybody else do it differently?

2WD KYB sit higher than the 4WD versions.
2WD Pedders/Monroe sit Lower than the 4WD versions.

Go figure..........
