94 Liberty Wagon Fuel Sender Unit
94 Liberty Wagon Fuel Sender Unit
Hi All - My mate has a 94 Subaru GX Wagon - and it's a nice one! - but the fuel gauge has a mind of its own. His mechanic has told him it's the sender unit in the fuel tank and it'll be a $400 to $500 job to fix.
How hard is it to change the sender unit? (how hard can it be!)
Does anyone have a spare one lying around? (hope so...!)
Thanks for all your inputs in advance!!! ;o)

few self-respecting ricers would spend the time to modify a Daewoo.

Liberty are known to have bad fuel senders, go to RSLC and do a search, there is a good instructions to tell you how to clean them, but if you keep cleaning them they wear out... common problem for Liberty.
My best advice to avoid spending upto $450-$500 (I got a quote around $218 for one side and other was just under $300) best way is to reset ODO every re-fill stop and an EJ22 Liberty would go upto around 550 - 650-700kms to a tank, focus on the fuel pump light - they are normally accurate which will come on around 7-8litres remaining in tank which could last you estimation 50 kms (city) or 70-100kms on highway.. This is what I do with mine, once it goes half tank the gauge plays up as its the sender unit - NOT the gauge at fault.
Cheers

Correct - AWD/4WD has left and right senders, on drivers side is the main one.chriSTIan wrote:2wd have 1 sender 4wd have 2
Can also be the gauge itself, happened to me once.
What is the problem with it?
