Brake light info

Post by Lapsed » Fri Oct 27, 2006 9:47 am

just a small thing i found out about the l series yesterday. My steering rack has been leaking fluid for a little while now, about a fortnight ago the brake fluid light came on, so i check the brake fluid its fine. I 'm thinking great another problem (YAY). till yesterday when i refill the power steering fluid and now the light is off... so the story is that the brake fluid light doesn't just mean the brake fluid is low it also means that the power steering is low.

cheers chris

Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

Wow thats really strange. I don't recall any wires for a sensor in the power steering pump. Must be Subaru's Sixth Sense! :p

I know of 2 people that aint getting any more things wired by me. I think my wiring quality can speak for itself. And the 10 grand pay raise i just got from work backs that up.

P.S i never touched that wiring.

There is much more chance u got the resevours mixed up then my wiring being dodgy. LOL

I've found sometimes that brake fluid indicator comes on for no apparent reason, or when it is over-filled.

I'll put this event down to co-incidence rather than wiring mistake or otherwise. you could test it by sucking out some P/S fluid and seeing if the brake fluid light ocmes back on.

Maybe there's a dodgy wire that requires p/s fluid to be on it so the light stays off, you ran out of fluid... Meaning that you filled the p/s fluid so it could again leak and fill the connection of the dodgy wire, thus leaving the light off.

My two cents on this event...
