Time for a b'day there Andy? or just fixing some leaks?
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

this next step involves attempting to keep engine oil in the engine :D
I have some seeping from the intake manifold gaskets and oil dripping on the ground from oil pump area and I bought the sump gasket as a precaution (Im not convinced its leaking but may change it anyway)

I have considered that Rick
but 50 bucks of gaskets and seals is a much cheaper option for the moment

Hehehe... I didn't have to say it this time

You won't need that sump gasket Andy - if it looks like its leaking it'll be the oil pump leaking and the oil moving around under the engine at speed, that's what it was for me anyway!

Cheers

Fair enough. I've used that grey goo for the sump gasket, working well so far :D

Those EA82 sump gaskets go rock hard and leak and trickle and are worth replacing. Go a new sump too Andy, picking the old cork out is a long enduring process. Hard on the fingers, back , patience etc, or get a nice sharp chisel and borrow wire wheel on a grinder spindle at work ?
That pic is upsid down isn't it?

I will swop it in anyway as I have it here - should I add sealant to prevent future "seepage" ?

started to SLOWLY pull things apart
alternater and air compessor "pulled to the side and balanced nicely"

Image

just pulled the radiator out and will get it pressure tested as a precaution (it looks new - pretty happy about that :D )
Image

started ripping into the intake manifold tonight (gotta love daylight saving)
Image

note : using brightly coloured rags to reduce chances of losing one in the engine later

found this "broken bit" - must be expensive as someone has glued/poxied it up (where my finger tip is)

(will check price and availability at work tomoz)

luckily I dont need the car on the road so I can take my time

I will keep a running tally on the cost of this wagon as I go $

This is just some sort of solenoid that opens and closes to the outside world AFAIK. That broken bit is the breather with the air filter mesh bit in the end of it...

That is a pollution solenoid , likely for the EGR

Don't worry about my sig mate! Kez put me up to that... Dad and I used the kitchen bench to pull some stuff apart the other weekend, if mum knew, well, I wouldn't be typing this now...

Find your local sticker joint and make some up on the computer, take the file to them and have them print up X amount for you to the size you want. Choosing the font and colour would be the hardest part IMO.
