don't throw nuffin out

Post by revmax » Tue Dec 20, 2011 7:15 pm

Cause ya might need it one day.
Almost threw out a damaged guard from a 84 Bum thay I wrecked but decided to hang on to it to practice spraying on.
Well part of that guard came in handy today to fix a guard i got off gannon.
Blasted the steel where it was to be welded, (far out that makes a difference)Used a pneumatic angle grinder so I could control the speed of the 1mm cut off wheel. My gasless mig which I havent used in years had just enough wire in it to do the job, the elcheapo auto darkening helmet I have meant the weld started where i wanted it to and I don't have a big star in my eyes.
I'm so chuffed.

Well done, can I ask what settings did you have the mig at?

and if I kept all of the bits I ever had, I would be swimming in EA parts and old wagons :(

be a bonus these days.

LOL the welder has two setting Hi and Low. it was on Low. Not sure what that means except it will run longer before dropping out and I have less chance of blowing a hole in the metal.

So true! Bloody Murphy again!!!

I'll tell you what makes the weld come up one better on what you've got there revmax: a sanding grinder wheel on the angle grinder, it smooths everything out and polishes at the same time so it's all sweet as. Then you can use your bog or just spray over it!

Cheers

I'm the opposite - I don't keep anything - I hate clutter.
I used to keep things thinkig that one day I might use it but I found I never did. I would always forget I had it or if i remembered i could never find it. So now I don't bother.

Hehehe... I'm the other way around to you, I've been gathering parts for specific projects and have a couple of spares of various items on the side "just in case" I need them...

Cheers
