I know they sell stuff of Ebay and are a big Subaroo wreckers in NSW.

I have heard a few people on forums buying stuff from them and quite happy.

I might have to send my Gearbox to them soon enough for a rebuilt  Might get a front lsd while im gettign it done. Maybe a better centre lsd too.

They work on exchange, no biggie there as they replace all the bearings and syncros at the same time. I also hear "ka-ching!, ka-ching!, ka-ching!" rolling over as you talk about this!

Bennie if it needs to be done it needs to be done. I will keep driving my Subaru though until 1st gear is gone completely. I know it will cost around the $2000 mark probably. But If I do get it done all new syncros will be added aswell as a new 1st and 2nd gear. Then since the box will be out I might get a lsd, saves having to pull it out and do it later  Atleast if/when I get it done the box will be good for another 250,000km.

I'd be budgeting for more than that figure, especially once you include freight etc.

The Helical front LSD would be the way to go as H-top has said.

And I would expect more than 250,00km from a gearbox - subaru one anyway... My EA box got over 400k km on it then went into a mate's L and kept him going without worries (and with working 4wd), it's now the paddock bomb :D

Make an enquiry with them so you know what you'll be up for - Venom has just done this and sent me a copy of the reply, it was about what I was expecting + a bit more!

Cheers

I can't find a definitive answer but i've seen it mentioned that helical LSDs won't work when a wheel leaves the ground. If someone could prove that wrong it would be good, because i'm putting one in my car.

You're looking around 2,400 to 3,000 plus the exchange. Thats with a viscous centre, either second hand or new.

I might be better off to just get a box from a wrecked Foz of the same gen with the same specs from the wreckers. If I wasn't saving for uni I wouldn't be worried about spending that kind of money and doing it up properly.
