Also remember that Hydraulic vs Cable is to do with how the clutch pedal is connected and really has nothing to do with the clutch itself.

All Subi's from Ugly Betty on have the slave mounted on the engine side so they push the top of the fork back the same way a cable would pull it back therefore they now all have pull clutches but the flywheel is stepped hence the reason for getting the rings cut but you'd need to speak to Scott about the exact details, he was pretty surprised we used the cable without a problem & not too heavy to use.

Sorry Tom.. if the slave pushes the clutch fork from the front (and pushing it backwards) it will be the same as a cable clutch system. This system is a push type pressure plate where the release/thrust bearing will press on it. All pull type pressure plate systems have the slave cylinder from the back of the fork and pushing the fork forward. You have to remember there is a pivot ball inside the bellhousing.

Yeah that's what he said - slave on the engine side, pushing it the same direction that a cable pulls it.
What is confusing is that the cable pulls, but this is not a pull-type clutch system. The push or pull word describes what goes on inside the bellhousing not outside.

My mistake in my original description - I wasn't considering the very late model turbos from ugly betty on. Some of those hydraulic systems are infact push clutches.

Oh.. sorry.. I read it what Tom wrote as if it works like a cable system then it's a PULL type :confused: but like you say Andrew.. It's what happens inside the bellhousing but I think we're getting off the thread topic now.
