Could it be as simple as a pair of rear disc brakes?

as simple a thing as RX disc brake rear is what got me going _ i hate drum brakes and love how the discs went straight on TONGA and other MY MV Brumby bum and when I go loking for them locally they are priced as such hens teth. In the US they wreck a few more of these than we do.

just lookin' for a gold star for Gannon, how about a :) stamp instead

Yet to find out total including freight, the exchange rate when the actual invoice comes through, mark up by my US agent. Yep, sorry Andrew - that is it. I must say I have been :( by some of the prices I find people advertised or mentioned in past threads and found some yards in the US recently scrapped the cars with rear disc set up still on them I believe.

But man, google some parts prices over there. Here we have a retail for DR341 disc rotors at A$112 (yes Josephine, they are still available despite what is written in places) or US$30. Semi metallic pads are about the price of a pack of Winny blue smokes here, about 1/4 the price. I think we ned to support the global economy a little more than just our own when it comes to these sort of prices.

Depending on how this exercise goes, watch this space. It may be prudent to pick up FWD Vortex rear callipers and rotors and simply import the 4WD rear hubs and backing plates.

My intending US agent/ business partner is limited on time but if he can arrange a few reources within his reach and get them to stockpile our much desired components and fill a shipping container (rather than CRUSH them) costs will come down - devaluing our local stocks somewhat.

Currently looking at freight options, not yet knowing the weight or dimensions of final parcel. FEDEX or UPS looks to be the go, given the excitement it may just have to be at a premium to land them quickly

Look at whether your seller can put them in a USPS fixed-rate box. If you can fit both the box rate is only $65 US airmail. Add your $100-odd for the discs themselves, and landed they should be under $200 AUD. If you're looking at volume shipping be careful with all the additional costs - duty, etc, starts to come in once you get volume shipments and then the government gets their 10%, but a bunch of other charges as well.

Dont do UPS if you NEED anything to arrive they rely on pot luck, They have averaged screwing in one in four packages for me so far... I do rate USPS as mentioned though Its cheaper more reliable and from my experience faster too. I sent a box bigger than yours about as heavy for 160 dollars and it beat me home!

yeah, considering FEDEX, they have a 10kg box, and a 25 kg box at favourable rates I am led to believe. Go outside these parameters and price goes off a bit from the sounds of things. The little package currently weighs about 28kg and 16" cubed (bit like getting 60km per gallon :) )

UPS is independent of the United States Parcel Office USPS , both had sites last time i tried things from the US - OXO dishbrushes of all things - made in China no longer imported here.

Thanks for the input. Just got 5 PM's to read before bed !!

worth what you are willing to accept and buyer pay - about US$100. Here people are paying about $400, some are asking $500.
