rear wiper L SERIES sedans ??

Post by steptoe » Tue May 25, 2010 10:10 am

Loking through my factory manuals I see a diagram of L Series sedan with its wiring diagram and lists a rear window wiper. Which market got these? I imagine it would be a hole in the window job to fit it.

pretty much everywhere except for aus haha...i know the us and japan had them.

just like every other import sedan of any manufacturer seems to have a rear wiper.

I have it on my '89 RX 3 door and '90 wagon, but not on either of my sedans

Its probabily for the coupe's rear wiper. I'd say that subaru would use a standard sedan wiring loom for the coupe, so they add everything into it for one generic loom...

It would be interesting if you could check out the loom on your coupe T'subaru to see if there's a set of plugs for the rear doors so the dash can display the door as being open if the switches were in place as they would be in the sedan...

Cheers

The jap market had it.

Sedans definitely came with it. All the locating points are there. If you look under the parcel shelf in the middle, there is a kind of a bump with threaded holes - thats where the motor went. The rubber plug covered hole at bottom right corner of the boot opening (under the lid) is for the rear washer bottle.

Australian delivered sedans do not have the wiring in the loom. The wagons do though (its the same for sedans and wagons).

Ah YES. I recall that bump and welded nuts. Another bloody practical option we missed out on. An old boss of mine had an office and a girlfriend in Japan - should have been on better talking terms with him. A Japanese spec'd RX sedan would have been intereting....though he did say you never see old stuff on the roads over there - all those exported must be stashed somewhere out of sight - maybe in NZ!

Hi Bennie,
Yes I have rubber booted door switchs on my RX 3 door. It illuminates a red diagonal led on the dash indicating either drivers or passenger door is open, but nothing on the rear hatch. I can post schematics of electrical on any of the '89 models from fsm if helpful.
