Not sure what a 2wd rear axel is....by definition a 2wd vortex doesn't have any.

Do a few searches on the forum, 2wd to 4wd conversions should be relatively well documented on here. It should be identical in a Vortex to in any other L series.

If you want rear discs definitely wait until your 4x4 conversion and do it then. The rear discs from a 2wd model are not suitable for use with a 4wd rear end.

Pretty much you are going to need;
- L series 5spd 4x4 gearbox of some sort (u can get awd ones, part time, ones with low range or not, ones with centre diff lock or not etc etc)
- L series tailshaft
- Complete Kframe rear end (hopefully one with discs)
- Rear diff (with ratio matching the gearbox)
- Diff "moustache bar" hanger

Pretty sure everything just bolts in. The centre bearing of the tailshaft needs to bolt to the floor, this can be achieved by using a couple of bits of flat bar bolted through - works fine.

This took me about 120 seconds to type as I'm just about to leave the house in a rush, but I think it's fairly accurate :)

but my mate has a 4wd already converted vortex so yeah but we put wrx brakes all round.

why not use the rear disks on a wagon??

L series doesnt have disc brakes on them, otherwise they're fitted by custom or if the L series is turbo then it would have discs
