MY Wagon suspension options

About to sort out refreshed suspension in the MY

What are the pros and cons of something like this? Am i better off with plain old springs?

Pump up shocks transfer the weight from the springs to the shock mounts, which they are not designed for.
From experience they are "bouncy".

If neither of the above worry you, they are a cheap way of putting more weight in the back of your vehicle or lifting your vehicle.
If you puts lots of air in with no weight, they lift, but ride very very hard, loosing wheel travel.

So they have good and bad points.

Im not sure on them, There are some good looking other options..

For example these are only marginaly more expensive than the 'ultima' alternative

I dont like the idea of bouncyness or stressed mounts.. really I'm looking to increase the 'street' handling of the car (speed bumps, roundabouts and potholes) as well as feeling confident im not just going to pound the bump stops on the first dirt road/track I hit...

So - Thoughts are

- Near new strut inserts
- New front springs
- Undecided on solution for the rear yet - seeking tips!

KYB's were one of the best for Subaru's, I am not sure now, as there are many options.
I have always used KYB's and have been happy with them.
See what other people say, then decide.

Dad used to have them in his Kingswood and I've been looking for a set to use in the L series but these one's won't work as I can't fit a spring around them :(

If you're not sure about them go with the KYB gas strut (aftermarket), I've got a set on the rear of my L series and they go great so far. You should be able to get a better price than that though!

And springs - well, I always have a bit of a cringe when people say they need new springs, half the time they really do, the other half they just need a good set of new shocks in there to reduce the bounce ;)

Thanks bennie,

I was just going to refresh the lot - no idea save some sort of 'pedders' style test how the springs are.. I can make them compress a little with just my hand between each coil. Maybe they are just light duty..

but yes definitely need new shocks.

air shocks I fittd to a sedan with individual valves were to correct ride height and hard as all heck in the ride. Not sure of their construction but think the pressure I provided had something to do with the awful ride quality
