hey guys just thought ild share this
bmw has made a ute but who can afford a bmw
so why cant subaru make one :(

Yeah bring back the Baja :-)

But in Gen 4 style not Gen 5

As for the BMW one - it looks cool but not quite right at the same time.

I have a Gen 2 wagon with a damaged tailgate that I'm thinking would make a good candidate for a ute - possibly a 4 door one at that .....

their statement reads something like they are steering away from agricultural stuff, but wouldn't a ute based on the Foz be a workhorse and a half, starting with oldest shape Foz first - it has tail lights with a design similar to Brumby layout

The baja was a half arsed job - a subi ute needs to be a true ute with the rear wheels in at least the centre of the load bed and only two doors like the brumby has. The brumby is a well balanced ute to the eye and in the world of practicality it came up trumps in my book. The other iconic ute is the old HQ holden ute - looks good and is a practical ute as well. The baja to me looks like its built in a way that if you drop a load in the rear it will squat at the back and be raised high at the front due to the load bed being behind the rear axle.

A subi will never carry a huge payload due to the IRS setup, but that seems to be the go with most utes these days other than the "tradies" advertised ute...

I too would love to see a rugged subi ute produced once again - none of these plastic flare stuff though, that's rubbish in my book.

The other thing is that it seems some over-the-top-wealthy individual of the world has commissioned BMW to produce a one off factory produced ute - there doesn't seem to be any indication that this ute design will make it to BMW's large scale production... It would be interesting see them around the traps though. Dunno what the people of Toorak would use them for other than a fashion statement - and if they were keen on taking it to Deni I don't think it would get much of a welcoming!

True the present IRS setup isn't going to carry much weight and another problem would be the monocoque body of the present Subaru line up. I'm sure if the ask Toyota nicely the could steal the Prado or Hilux ladder chassis and the Mitsubushi rear IRS from the Pajero then make a diesel long cab version of the Forester :) with a flat six twin turbo diesel:twisted: BWAWAWAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAA

Jules - I've heard that there's a new opening at Subaru in their future vehicles department :twisted:
