Vacuum from where??

Hey Guys.

I have a couple of gauge I'm about to put in. I am however wondering Where to run the T-Piece off for my Vacuum gauge. Some Run it off the Brake booster line, or the intake - Fuel pressure regulator.


Any recommendation on a good place to put it? Would it be a good idea to follow through the same lines a boost gauge runs off as it is somewhat the same detail (ok, that's a very vague description and comparission of boost and Vacuum gauges.)

What ever you do I'd be trying to plumb it in as close to the manifold as I could... As to which line you tap into I don't think it really matters, just so long as it seals properly so there's no vacuum leak.

Easiest way is to get a 3mm T piece and put it in line with the vac line that feeds the HVAC system (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) Its the black hose that goes from the manifold to the little white canister mounted behind the drivers side strut tower.

Awesome. I was looking at the two hose that go straight back into the AirFilter box. Front side, bottom corners.

So you reckon after the TB?

Of course after the throttle body, the gauge is for manifold vacuum.

Yeah its better to run it off something like the "Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning" so that if your T piece comes adrift at any time, you only lose your venting direction instead of sacrificing braking or anything important.

You wouldn't actually lose your braking, just the effectiveness of your leg pressure - you'd need to use a lot more to get your vehicle to slow down, like you're trying your hardest to push a brick through the floor...

That said, you don't want it to happen!

You mean before the throttle body?

If you put it before the throttle body, the gauge will never move (unless your air filter is completely blocked)

What engine have you got?

EA82? EJ22?

Yeah, Bizarre, But some reviews said Before. Which would be in the Air Box.

Any vacuum source on the manifold will do.

There is a hose that connects to the fuel pressure regulator, you could T this for your vacuum source or you could remove the little threaded plug and put a barbed nipple in there.

Hmm.. There's a few option I found and Wonder about. The Manifold and line are looking a little harder to get at then I've experiences on Alloytechs and Nissan Engines.

Here are a couple I've found.

The Fuel Regulator.

Option 1 is not the fuel pressure regulator
Option 2 is a coolant hose
Option 3 is ported vacuum so you will only see vacuum at partial throttle.

Your best bet is to buy a T piece and put it in line with the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose

It is the small pipe below the brake booster line.

OH man does it suck to have people telling you the wrong information. That was apparently the fuel regulator, but thats good.
