ej slight prob.

Post by shuffbag » Sun Jul 27, 2008 8:27 pm

so i've done the ej+awd conversion fixed the wiring (all but orig dash splicing) and it drives great, alittle loud be great but i spose thats what you get with 2 1/4" with one muffler from the cat back.

my problem is when coming to a complete stop the engine studders (for about 1-2sec's) like its about to stall but it settels itself with out me touching the gas??????

anyone know what this could be? or point me in the right direction

You got the VSS hooked up? When I didn't have mine hooked up it randomly caused the same problem, plus a few others.

false alarm i thought i had fixed it but it seems to be something else.

my main problem was a person that i normally turn to for help with repairs failed to do up my intake pipe where it connects to the throttle body.... i should have checked, but assumed it would have been put on correctly.

i have no problem driving only when i come to a stop for about 1 sec it seems like its about to stall but then regains normal idle???? i know i have a tiny vaccum leak on the right side of the intake manifold (there is one threaded hole that is blocked and another next to it that in the other car had hose connected) which i will block with a grub screw.

could a tiny vaccum leak cause this problem?

VSS, Vehicle Speed Sensor.
Normally its a reed switch (magnetic) in the speedo itself with a wire to pos or ground and one to the ECU. I think the EA82 cars should have it, I know EA81's don't. It gives a pulse signal to the ECU to tell the ECU what speed, but mainly just to say if your driving or not so it can figure out when your decelerating or just reving the engine.

I aussume you have done the obvious and checked the engine codes. Sounds like a dirty Bypass Control Valve to me... but if it's behaving like that it should be spitting a code.

no i haven't pulled codes yet as the computer isn't easy to get to. i will try today.

i leaning towards vss, on my way home from work today insted of gearing down for lights etc i put the clutch in befor starting to slow and rolled only using my barkes to stop and the engine never studdered.

so i guess i'm trying to hook up my vss wiring during my break today

I was told my problem was the IAC as well (what Subarino is talking about). I replaced mine with a clean on (after cleaning my old one 3 times) and it got rid of the code but that problem still persisted. Thats why I say VSS, as I'm pretty sure that fixed it on mine.
