Tow This?

Saw this down the coast this arvo. Fibreglass hull, nicely fitted out, canopy, seats up to 6 - 500kg gross.
Really like the idea of it, near new, and the price aint too shabby (would solve my problem where to put my spare wheel too).!

40 Hp 2 stroke mercury, one of those planing things above the propeller converts white water to more propulsion. Boat was a demo and has the motor blocked up higher. Guy said it rides better.

Will probably make an offer on it tomorrow morning. Boat owner is taking me and a coupla friends out to see how it handles.

I haven't towed a boat before. Any views how my liberty will go with this on her tail?

500kg Gross?
What's the tare of the boat on the trailer?

Hi Brumbyrunner, 500kg is for up to 6 people with load including fuel ( according to compliance plate rating). Couldn't see the tare and forgot to ask the owner.
I'll find out tomorrow. Do you know what a 2.2 will pull comfortably?

should tow it fine, may notice fuel economy change a little but will be ok behind a 2.2

I tow a bigger boat than that with my lib. You know its there but it feels safe. You will love dual range for pulling the boat up steep boat ramps.

I think it's around 500kg unbraked and 1200kg braked but I don't have a Liberty anymore to check. It'll be in your manual and might even be on your towbar. The car will pull it fine though.

I've towed bigger boat than that with twin engines (can't remember how heavy overall) (even an Commodore on a car trailer with my Lib), I've never go over 50kmh on the road. EJ22 tows its comfortably without dual range, but i use dual range for pulling out of the water comfortably.
