fuel system for ej conversion

Post by briney » Thu Jul 03, 2008 10:06 pm

hi there guys, i've had a bit of a look around and a search without much luck. i have an l series wagon and an EJ22 to go into it. what do people do with the fuel system ? i've seen setups on other cars with an engine bay mounted surge tank, fed by the std pump. or do i somehow find a tank from a liberty or something ? or modify the tank to take an intank pump ? how have people done it ?

most people source an L series mpfi fuel tank and at least an L series mpfi fuel pump, and they're set.
Others fit a big fuel pump and surge tank, whilst others have been fine with a big fuel pump and just the carby fuel tank- with a risk of surging when the level drops below 1/4.

ok, had a bit of a hunt around today on the interwebs and a local wrecker. the mpi tank sounds the go and the neatest. they unfortunately don't seem too thick on the ground. i had a look at venom's conversion and i reckon i could feed a swirl pot with the standard fuel pump. his looks to be mounted in the rear of the car. oh well, i'll keep looking and see what presents.

That's the other way to do it. If you do manage to get an MPFI tank, make sure you get another fuel line for the return, it wouldn't matter if you get a second carbie fuel line, it just has to be a large diametre.

Keep an eye out at wreckers, I didn't see any around this weekend. Also check out the wreckers page in the vic section, I've just "updated" for the joints I drop in on from time to time.

Cheers
