finned diff covers

Why do some imprezza rx's have a finned diff cover ? are they cooling fins and if they are why don't wrx's have them? (Really the hotrodder in me just thinks they look cool so i should have one)

I think you would get more looks if you got a con rod and used it to clamp your tail pipe to the body .
