rebuilding an alternator

Post by rob83ke70 » Sat Jun 21, 2008 4:40 pm

hey
i've got an ea82 powered L series wagon, and my alternator makes fully sic whining noises. definitly coming from the alternator, pretty sure its the front bearing. anyone ever rebuilt an alternator? i'm up for rebuilding it... i'm always open for learning new things...

the car has 323000km on it so i suppose its allowed to have a few bearings fail now and then...

I did this on my EA81, was just a couple of metal sleeves, most auto electricians should have them.
