i'm addicted already! only had my brumby for two weeks and i'm already looking at another one. was at the scrap yard yesterday and hidden away in the corner was a red 88 brumby with targa roof. i looked in realy good condition. it has the same rust problem as mine in the back arches but that was it. spotless outside and in. it had just failed it's EU check on rusted brake lines. thinking of getting it and using mine as a donor car. how hard is it to switch brake lines over? anyone done it before?

brake lines should be simple as to swap over. undoing them can be the hard part though. Flare nut spaners are the best as they are prone to rounding off.

Targa brumby will be a nice upgrade to aslong as the roofs work and dont leak

Could you get new brake lines and put them on yourself? I'm thinking out loud here...

getting new ones made up can be quite costly. as they are made of Copper whihc costs a S**Tload these days.

will probably need to take the old ones in to match the bends and everything then hope its all perfect so it clips in.

also if your swapping over all the Metal lines it might be worth gettin new Flexible lines made as they can crack fairly easily on these older cars, and if it starts leaking....no brakes cept for a handbrake (ive experienced it

)

I think getting new copper lines might not be as costly as all that. I bought a role of 6 metres of copper brake line for my trailer, I think it was about 25 bucks. The flexible rubberized lines are fairly costly tho I think. You can get a little tool which you can do the bends yourself with, or get a brake place to do it for you.

and I not found a cure for it yet, was thinking about a third one for no good reason

i was hinking of making them myself but i don't have a lift or pit to work on the car at the mo! so could be a mission! i'm saving for the crossbred 5 sud kit and hope to have it on before the snow comes. so i will have replacement rubber lines then:)
