More L series sucking 2 mch fuel

Post by rcs66 » Sun Apr 20, 2008 1:32 pm

Thanks so much all for your answers. Here is some more info in reply to your questions.

Tyre pressures are checked every couple of weeks At 35psi.

The car start first turn of the key every time and idles very smoothly.
Can missfire quietly a couple of times when cold when I take my foot off the not so fast peddle.

There is no exhust or fuel smell, and she blows no smoke.

I am not a heavy footed driver But do like to move with the traffic.

Carby has been tuned twice.

I put in about 42L to fill the tank.

I did a recent trip to QLD and checked the speedo against the speedo checking blue signs that tell you each Km for 5 KM and the clock was spot on.

The fuel guage goes to about 4/5 to 5/6 full there seems to be a bit of variation there.

If I neeed to pull the carb apart can anybody recomend someone in Sydney ?

Also If I did the job myself, how much should I pay for the kit ?
The last one I brought a few years ago for a cooper 2 were only about $25 I have called a couple of carb shops and they want about $50 to $75 just for the kit and about $200 as well to do the job. So a total of near $275 min.

A new thing now when I put the fan on I have coolant coming from the front of the consol onto the floor on each side > Is this likely to just be a hose ? This happens if the fan is on hot or cold.

Cheers

coolant coming out there may be a hose, but prob heater core, either way dash needs to come out. This is not uncommon. If you want to do it yourself, search this forum ,as others have made good step by step distructions before.
should be getting more than 42 litres in to tank, more like 60 I think.
