wheel bearing question

Post by subie_1st_timer » Thu Mar 20, 2008 2:52 pm

i just brought new rear wheel bearings off ebay.

here is the ad: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=023

my concern is he says its to suit all model brumbys, but on the box the bearings came in, it says to suit:
leone 4x4/rx turbo 4wd 79 on
subaru 4wd wagon a67 1600 72-79
subaru 4wd wagon a64 some - 75-79

have i been sent the wrong bearings or not?

the wheel bearing serial no matches the one in the ebay ad so i just wanna make sure i got the right bearings before i go pullin it all apart

please help

Yeah I reckon you've got the right bearings. Dunno if there was an RX turbo around in '79...

The adverts on ebay can be dodgy but the product good... it can also be the other way round, you need to be a savvy buyer.

The brumby is bascially the MY wagon/sedan running gear that was produced til '84... All running parts of these cars are directly interchangeable with the brumby, all the front panels forward of the front doors are interchangeable, along with the dash layouts too. I doubt they've changed bearings between the MY or L's either, the rear end changed a little bit in the suspension dynamics department but thats about it AFAIK.

If the numbers match you've got the goods.

Have fun, i've heard its not an easy job to do (but don't be dis-heartened by that)

Cheers

changing wheel bearings is never fun on any car, altho my ford its a pretty simple task.

im gunna do all 4 bearings, brake pads and shoes and new front rotors aswell, wanna get all that out of the way before i do the lift kit and 27' m/t's go on.

im presuming all the bearings are a press fit??? Havent got a manual yet, thats next weeks purchase....

$85 is pretty good for both sides of the car. I paid $120 for a pair when i was in NSW... They're not installed but are in the car for when i have the time to do them now. I got them cos i thought i needed them when really it was just that my castle nut had come loose (even with the pin, I thought the bearings were collapsing). They've done another 5000km without a problem so i'm guessing they're still good for now :D

wrongly or rightly , I was quoted 170 for a 84 Brumby rear wheel bearing from autopro. Ensure the bearing has grease on installation.

I paid $72 for each rear sealed bearings from Sparco and $45 for each front sealed bearings from Repco.

Sparco quoted me $25 for each rears but they seemed a bit dodgy for that price.
