EJ25 or Lib

Post by Suby Roo » Mon Mar 17, 2008 8:46 am

Righto, last weekend my ea82 carby blew a head gasket. This now gives me a reason to get a new motor or a new car.

I will get either an ej25 or a supercharged liberty.

Just wanted to see what the thoughts of people on here would be.

Well i can get the liberty for $5500. The ej25 would be sourced form Lapsed old wagon, Costing me around $2000 grand to set up.

Looking for something around that range.

Give us some more details on this supercharged Lib...

Is it an offroader? In which case I guess u really need to weigh up what you want - street car or offroader

This is pretty much all i know.

Street car

5spd dual range

WRX front struts, pedders rear

New clutch and cable

Can come with SC14 supercharger running 5-6psi with front mount and bypass valve

done 270000 something ks

If i got the lib then i would probably put new gaskets in the L and have that as a pure off road car.

I would beware of that supercharger setup, from what I have learnt so far from Subarino's setup etc it is quite difficult to get these perfect and easy to have it damaging the engine quickly over time...
They are very rare and I'm pretty sure Subaru havn't made an EJ engine supercharged from the factory. Turbos on Subaru's are tried and tested but Superchargers aren't.

I wouldnt trust SuperCharger - I think you can do better... what year is that liberty?

I think i'd go for EJ25 upgrade.
