Love Hate

Post by BlackMale » Mon Jan 09, 2006 3:21 pm

Tell ya what I love/hate. When u log onto this site and it gives you the posts since you last access the board, and you log on after a weekend to find that there are 65 posts = I LOVE that… then ya computer crashes and when u log back on only seconds later you have 3 post since last accessed and then you have to troll through each of the sub sections = I HATE that.

Me too. Or something like that.

I think it's something to do with our security/firewall/cookies, but on my work computer sometimes if you answer a post, when you return to the index all topics are marked read.

Or when you pull up another page to make it quicker to get through the posts and all are marked read on both pages

I use Firefox and centre-click on each link, bringing up a new tab for each one.

My computer is the opposite of my cars: it never lets me down.

Another love hate thing, I love how you can follow a thread by the " view this topic" (opps - edit " watch this topic for replys") and you get a notification - as you do if you post a reply. ( cause sometimes you just are interested, without having to post, for the sake of posting)
but...
I hate it too, because sometimes it is unreliable - like if you havn't checked the site for a few days, it doesn't send any more reminders about that thread :x , and you dont have the time to go through the 75 last posted messages in one sitting.

Then again, If I cant, I use another PC to log on as a guest, then I dont lose the ability of the " last posts since..." feature, when I have time to read them.

Good call Jaffa, someone can make this feature even beter ... yes?

i agree. it shits me to tears when you accidentally close the window before you have read all the threads, and come back and they are marked as read.

the old board used to mark the threads as read on a thread per thread basis, and only marked the ones you had read once you viewed them.

this version of the board seems to mark everything as read based on your last login.

can this be fixed?
