$280 for one gen3 lib wheel bearing, supply only, and another $20ea for the little rubber plugs. lol

on the contrary when i was pricing up EA82 water pumps the other month. aftermarket ones were about an $80ish dollars and i rang subaru just for fun and they said about the same price.

Two front axels for my '99 outback (inner and outer cv, boots and drive shaft). Subaru in nowra quoted about 800 each, and I got two reconditioned ones for about 600 in woolongong. It was worth the drive there and back.

Whoa even 600 for the pair is expensive.
Allan's CV joint in Ozzy park did two brand new Liberty RS Turbo shafts for me for $170each....i'd say Outback ones would be the same.

The Outback would be running the newer 'Tri-Pot' Style of DOJ & they are VERY expensive to replace....

Yes Matatak thats what it is, but the special part is the little lug in the middle that fits the security lug in the bolt, so it's not a normal Torx bit and no tool suppliers round here had one.
BTW the local dealer quoted me $17 over the phone but when I got there a different person said that price was wrong and charged more.
When I bought the beast the previous owner said the key was on the key ring, but I later found that it did not fit, and it looked strangely familiar, so I asked me Dad if he had seen one before and it turned out to be a key for a Club lock that goes on the steering wheel! Previous owner had never tried it and been told by first owner that it was for the roofracks! LOL.

hmmm, They're those cover things over the windows, so you can open the window an inch or so when its raining and the rain can't get in.... Subaru have the really thin ones.

I wish I'd kept a record of all the parts I had priced, not just the ones I had bought as there'd be some doozies in there...

Having said that, I do find that genuine CV boots seem to last a lot longer than some aftermarket ones. All teh genuine parts seem to fit well too.
