Bit of an eventfull run along jeffrys track on sunday

wet distributors stipping the l series and waaaay to much water in the brumby for its own good

water + subaru = BAD

Next time im taking an inverter and a hair drier. Is much easier to dry the dizzy's and plug leads.

Have you figured out whats wrong with the brumby?

For those not in the know... Picture the brumby in a pudddle with water sitting over the bonnet... Not good..

umm assuming theres some bent valves or something in the brumby

heres the theory...

drove into the hole, water starts coming in the window = bad idea, chuck it into reverse and drive back out of teh hole
brumby sits there idling for a couple of minutes
engine stalls and an exhaust full of water drains up into the engine through exhaust valves
try and start the brumby again later = bending of valves due to water now in the engine

will do a compression test when i get home tonight, then we will know for sure

Not nice at all. hopefully that is the only damage that it done to it. Was a fun day though and some good pics.

bens car made it home! yay

broke a front driveshaft at some stage, so he was towing me out in rwd.
the poor ea82t was missing and overheating, but still pulling quite well on boost.
so we piled into his car and left the brumby in new norfolk.
picked up the rex from my place, drove back out to norfik and towed it home with that

nice work. the wrx would have done it a bit easier. The reason i ask is that ben said that for $2000 i can have the tourer AND the hornet. this a good buy??

Looks like a good dirty weekend out!

Love the pics. Hope the brumby is fine. That theory sounds okay, but i'm thinking that if the exhaust is lower than the engine, how does the water go up into the engine. I don't think cooling air would have that much cooling vacuum to bring it up the exhaust... Maybe there was some in the inlet manifold that entered the chamber en-mass when the car stalled...?

Anyhow, hope the fix goes well, good pics, i enjoyed them...

car was parked with nose downhill so it could have happened...

but it could have entered from the top as well... or not even at all and its something completely different

all i know is she dont go no more

checked that too... cambelt is still good (only done about 1500km too)

is also has fuel pressure, and spark

when its turning over it spins fairly freely and makes a completely different noise to normal

ill check compression tonight, then we will know all

wow. looks like you guys have some awesome 4wd tracks down there. are they always that wet or just this time of year?

heya been a while since i posted :0

gr8 day very happy with the wagon except for the broken shaft but it happens aye

and jonny compression is really nice

valves me thinks brother i cant think of anything else it could be now bro and the photos are very cool thanks mainly to sir william (mysti) and for the record the shots of the brumby and my wagon lifting the wheels on the hill isnt on an angle its just very steep at that part anyway looking forward to it again fellas ps jarrod its a bargin m8 lol cheers Ben

Yeah thanks will for taking most of the pics and to the other 4wd's that we came across and talked into tackling the bog. The wheel lifting happened on a bank on about a 60 degree angle. I know its a bargan, dad doesnt care but mum isnt liking it too much. Ill work on it.
