Brumby headlights upgrade

Post by ChPLAT » Sat Feb 23, 2008 6:50 pm

My brumby has the square headlights so if I found driving lights the same size and made brackets etc. could I put them in place of the standard ones? I would probably have to leave the high beams alone I assume. But I have some old spotties already and don't really want to add driving lights elsewhere as its full. Anyways, legalities, pitfalls? any advice would be great.

You can get alot more from your lighting in the Brumby by adding some relays to give a proper voltage at the light increasing its brightness.

So relay it direct from the battery with a 30amp fuse inline? Would it do much for the old sealed lights?

You wont have to use driving lights or make up brackets.
Just replace the sealed beams with new inserts and Quatz Halogen bulbs. You can do just the high beam inners or all 4. As SWK said, first make sure you're got full power to the lights or you're wasting your money.

I had my Brumby's sealed beam headlights replaced with IPF inserts, IPF loom and halogen bulbs. Bought everything from the local ARB shop.

Wasn't cheap, but the headlight's performance is great now - both low and high beams. The upgrade worked so well, I haven't bothered fitting driving lights.
