Strange bogg issue SPFI EA82?

Post by The Loyale » Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:47 pm

Alright, This has been going on for a few months now.

Lets say you go to the store, And come out 30-45min later, Start the car, Let it ideal for a 1 min or so. Then put it in drive, Take off out of the parking lot and get to the road. Then when you feed the gas to get going, It kinda feels like it boggs so you push the pedel a little harder and then the bogg go's away and the RPMs come up and you're like flying down the road (1/4 to 1/2 Throttle)

Could that be from a dirty IAC? Or what? It does't do it when you drive, Only after you go somewhere, Let it sit. Come out, Putts thru the parking lot and get to the road, Go to take off and it won't really go, And then all of a sudden it will!? Any ideas guys?

Cheers
Tom

no SPFIs in australia so you might not get much help but an obvious thing would be to replace the fuel filter if you havnt already

Speak for yourself - I've got a full SPFI kit about to go on to my EA81 :)

From USMB info, it sounds like a MAF issue.

Here's one link: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/sho ... spfi+issue

Or this:

Just search on "SPFI issue" and there's handfuls of info...

the obvious things to look at would be.
Spark plugs
plug leads
injector.
fuel filter/s (for clogging)
fuel pressure
Throttle body (ie clean it out)
Maf (clean it if u have even got one lol)
and then look at other stuff if it dont fix it.
maybe its an auto issue (most likely not and will be an easy fix)

Alright, Yeah I'm on USMB too, But I figured I would ask you guys first..

I did change the fuel filter, Plugs (NGK) Wires (NGK) and I cleaned the MAF. And the throttle body is clean too.

Matatak, What I mean by "Flying down the road" is that at like 1/4 to 1/2 then it like kicks in and you get all you're power back. But it only does it once after it's been sitting in a packing lot. Other then that it's always fine.. But I'll check the links out and see what I find.

I know the fuel psi is good, Because if I driving and disside to go from 30mph to 50mph it will go... So I dunno, But I'll check it all out.

Thanks guys!

TPS - Throttle Position Sensor ;)

I'd be looking at the coolant temp sensor, or possibly dirty injectors.
Regards

Gary ;)

Hoping not to hi-jack this thread but:-

Bought an EA82turbo brumby and drove back from Brisbane. Put BP unltimate in it and it stopped. I changed the fuel filter and now it has a flat spot. When you hit the throttle there a definite flat spot then she picks up. It smells rich but there is a definte lag and fallter coming off idle. If she's idling and the air con comes on, it dies right off and nearly snuffs it. What should I be looking at??

Any thoughts???
