Auto Lib radiator different?
Auto Lib radiator different?
Got an EJ22 out of an automatic Lib and fitting it to an EA car. Im using the complete Liberty radiator.
This radiator has two extra outlets on the passenger side tank which I think was for some kind of transmission cooler for the auto trans. I've looped these together - is this the right thing to do?
Yesterday I was filling the radiator up, doing the usual bleeding of the system with the engine coming up to temperature. But the bottom radiator hose on the passenger side doesn't seem to be heating up. Neither does the whole passenger side tank really.
The top radiator hose on the other side gets very hot.
Sounds like the thermostat isn't opening up right? Weird because it all worked fine in the Liberty.
Are those two extra outlets the cause perhaps?

Nah radiator is pretty much standard height although the car was sitting at abit of an angle pointing downwards on a sloped driveway.
I'll try taking the thermostat out this arvo, the motor/radiator did sit for probably nearly 3 months without being started - perhaps it gummed up or something.

libs are a bit of a bugger to bleed the air out , I know we arent talking about a liberty engine but I would suggest raising the front of the car about a foot or more higher than the rest of the car to allow the air to come out , and leave the cap of while doing all this and then run the engine for about 20 mins.

Thanks for the advice,
Seems like it must have just been a big air bubble somewhere in the system, working well now.
Mike - it is an EJ engine, EJ22 with it's original Lib radiator
Sorry I didn't make that clear. EA car but its got an EJ engine - WackyBug.

Yeah but I've never had so much trouble with a Lib system before, as Mike says...seems to be abit more of a bugger than the average!
My L wagon must be different, still running an L radiator in that.
