Hacked Wiring

Post by username » Fri Jan 11, 2008 3:00 pm

Went on a road trip last week and this happened

Image

All these wires are located directly under the fan and i must have gone over a hefty bump to knock them up into it to hack them all up.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I soldered them all back together and taped them up so i could get home. Nothing noticable has stopped working.

Could this cause any problems in the future?

Cheers.

It wont cause any further problems if you fixed it correctly and it hasn't created a short circuit and burnt out anything else.

It is rather comon here with the WA boys. Usually happens when they are still running the engine driven fan and then they fit a lift kit. This pushes the fan dangerously close to this harness.

LOL yes! happened to me like 3 or 4 times. Luckily it isnt any engine wiring. Just headlights/indicators etc. When i did the conversion i fixed them all up properly. Make sure you do it properly, solder them and use heatshrink. and then conduit it all up good again.

Cable tie it to the stone guard.

Make sure they are sealed well, copper corrodes real quick if it gets any salt on it. Best bet is solder and two layers of heatshrink for each wire.
