negative into positive
negative into positive
Whilst installing a car alarm/immobiliser/remote starter into my car i encountered a problem with the remote starter.
a wire needs to be connected to a negative which turns to a positive once the car is started which lets the computer controlling the system know that the car is started so it stops throwing the starter motor in. (if this makes any sense)
Tried connecting it to the alternator and to the coil but neither works.
Any suggestions??

well going off what it says in the manual is that it needs to recieve a 12v dc charge. so im assuming that it only needs a positive.
Ill write exactly what it says in the manual tomorrow.
And another one of my friends has one and the same wire had to be wrapped around the coil lead. tried this but it doesnt work either.

Maybe the alternator light circuit. Thats a negative which alows the light on the dash to light up and goes to a positive when the car is running. Im not fimilar with remote start though...just know it's highly illegal.
Surely the manual makes some suggestions. Is it a single page manual... something you can scan and post so we can take a gander.

on most of the korean/cheap chinese ones (IE jaycar) thats what tehy want that wire connected to. most cars will get full oil pressure JUST after startup. perfect timing for the starter to drop out. the more expensive ones (DEI-viper et al ) drive off the TACH or by time intervals. prefer tach items myself that way the thing shuts down and doesn't grind the starter (usually..)

Alternator warning lamp wire, as said above, did it ten years ago with my own remote start system.
Started perfectly everytime, no excess starter run time, cannot re-engage starter remotely. Cost me next to nothing to
make.
Oil pressure has too many variables, cold or hot, oil viscosity, engine wear.
