shall I do this?? or waste of time?

There is an Leone body for sale that I saw, it doesn't have an engine at all, just rear diff and the body is good condition except famous rust bottom right windscreen area. (yes its was an 4WD - possible an RX Turbo body? but not sure)

My aim was going to happen was -

Source either EA82T or EA82 engine with 5MT 4WD D/R gearbox (not gonna bother EJ22 or EJ series) and clean up the car - maybe keep it for myself for 4WD driving rather using my Liberty or... Sell it for profit - if that happens, I'll buy myself 3rd Gen Liberty.

Its $100 just the body without engine. Needs a new windscreen and engine & gearbox.

My idea was -

Source good engine from wreckers - from $80 - $160 (try to get MPFI or Turbo, if not EA82 Carb will do).
Gearbox 5MT D/R approx upto $150 (I know a wrecker sells 5spd gearboxes $80 without warrenty - he won't care if its from Subaru)
Windscreen - I know someone can do it for $135.
Rego - $500 approx plus upto $150 - 200 for Stump & Duty.
RWC $60

Total approx $1050.

Since its 4WD and if if I sell it with good engine & 5MT gearbox D/R How much would I get it approx? its 1985 sedan. (Has Air Conditioning & Power Steering)

Cheers
AP

It is do-able however i think that this is an individual decision. However, that being said... what i can say is that your budget is out buy a long way -well at least i think that it is. The basis for this is that the engine alone (4 a decent 1) is worth approx $800+ And the box will need the same ratio as the diff remember.

Is she is an RX it should have different int. and disc breaks in the rear, the diff will also be LSD. Note that is its not had a MPFI engine in it then you will need to stuff around with loom/ecu/dash crap aaas well as fuel pumps ect - what does this mean... more $$$$ If you can score bits on the side then and then you to do it yourself you may reduce some of the cost.

im agreeing with jaffa. to get that right will be more like $1500

sale price i reckon would be around $2g tops for a 85 bitzer.

Leave it there is my opinion as you need to recover money for your time as well if you want to make a profit...

Better idea AP, if it is a RX Turbo you could buy sell the lsd and rear discs to me for a profit and you would have to do is remove it from the car and still make a profit. And i get a LSD and rear discs so i am happy, and you made a profit win win.
Just an idea, i got deps if you do
Cheers
