The "business" end of the stick...

I know how to drive a tractor so if you've got one of them it should be an easy task... maybe i should start by asking if you've got a lawn mower...

Any thoughts on how to sort out these donations?

I know i'm going to be honest with these donations but how do i show this to you guys? Its something thats been at the back of my mind for a while now, especially since people have been pledging a donation...

One thought: I have a bank account that I have been meaning to close for some time now. It has about $4 in it. I'm willing to post the details on this thread for people to donate into. If I do this, i want every one who donates to leave their username or some form of identification with their donation. This way i'll know who's donated and how much in the event of a no show on my part.
This id with the donation will allow me to return all money that was donated to its owner.
I'm going to be aiming for at least all my costs to get there plus those associated with my time there.
I'd be keeping all of my reciepts, only using that account to pay for fuel on the return to vic. I'll produce the reciepts on here with a scan of my bank statement (should show the donations and the deductions from places where fuel has be purchased) to show how the donations have been used.

Final question: what to do with left over money? any one got a good cause you'd like it to go to? Or should we open some account for next year's bbq?

Sorry to drag all of this up, but i figure if we're all serious about this that the above has to be nutted out before it comes time to leave for a drive of a life time. I'm serious about coming over to visit you guys and would love to do it if you guys are too. At this time in my life i couldn't do it all on my own. I'll buy a tatts ticket tomorrow to see how that goes...

Any other thoughts on this?

Cheers

Bennie.

Dude i don't know how much u think it's going to cost to get all the way here and a weeks living money while your here, but i seriously doubt your going to be able to raise enough donations to pay for all of it. We are talking about a lot of money here.

I think before you get ahead of yourself you should see who is serious about donation and crunch the numbers. Could turn out to be a complete waste of time. Just a thought... no negativity intended.

I do agree with dave make sure you know what you are up agaiinst it won't be a cheap exersise, i am still more than willing to make a donation if it is going to help ,I would think you would have to allow at least 1500 dollars just for fuel to WA and back .

Thats what i've been working with. I'm hoping on my part to have at least 800. Maybe i got my hopes up on this "drunk nite at the pub" idea. We don't have a byb bbq over here, plus WA is on my list of places to drive my car.

Maybe i should look at it for next year and do it off my own back, i'd feel much better about it than relying on others to get me back...

I did start this thread as a little laugh, not meaning to put down anyone who has genuninly shown their generosity, its greatly appreciated and i was surprised to see so many people show their generosity...

I think that might be the go, i'll plan for next year, even though seeing things being organised for this year, where you're going that I haven't been, all the chatter about it, the picking on alex and vise versa etc.

Maybe its me that should get the bbq going over here...

Benny, $20-$30 bucks from me if you set up the thing and keep it going.

Paypal may be a good idea too.

It was a little dis-heartening to read that one, then the other.

I'll keep an open mind, currently looking forward to an exam friday (2nd) then all my work for photojournalism due on the 7th of november, among all of that i'm looking for a new job to help me out with it all.

I'll get back to you on a closer date then if its looking good.

Cheers
