Hey leebag,
Forresters, Liberties and the like don't have a centre lock, rather they rely on a centre LSD. The L's gearbox engages the rear wheels, effectively having a centre lock.

The L's internals fit into an EJ casing and vise versa. He's basically made the car front wheel drive to get the centre coupling (or in this case the engaging of the rear wheels) to lock the front and rear wheels together. Better for offroad.

Basically he's given up All Wheel Drive for front wheel drive and a better 4wd setup.

Anyone like to tidy up what i'm trying to say?

P/T D/R EA82 gbox is better than an AWD box for off road.

AWD boxes dont often come in dual range and have an VLSD to lock the centre diff.
EA82 boxes have it locked (once in 4wd). the guy probably also just wants to do skiddies in fwd too ;)

BTW that is what a forester SHOULD look like.

Well an excuse to get Dual Range is to get EA gearbox over in America as they never got EJ Dual Range boxes like we do - Possible easy way for getting one to improve off road handling.

I dont think he has centre locker?
Cheers
