Autotechnica boss kit MY fit problems ??

I bit the bullet and ordered a NEW Autotechnica boss kit to suit my 84 Brumby.

Kit number 910 does not fit properly. Supplier has rung autotechnica who say I must have the collapsible steering column if it don't fit. Shoot, I don't know if that is right. They apparently did not offer an alternative to fit the 'collapsible shaft' variety.

The splines are right - the coarse ones but the boss bottoms out on the 19.96mm diameter shaft just below the splines. And it catches on the horn contact.

Has anybody had problems fitting these boss kits ?

It either needs a 4mm deep recess of 20 mm dia on the underside and a trim of the junk getting in the way of horn contacts or just hack off four mm from the bottom of the shaft....but when you shell out eighty bucks ...it should fit
