sump removal
a mate has a sherpa and wants to know if its possible to remove it ( the sump) from the car without taking the donk out?
has anyone done this before?
we know that the pick up on some cars are slightly bent,is this the same with sherpa's,
cheers subarute.

Sherpa
Not sure on the sump, do know from experience that a gearbox removal is a one hand lift job. Swapped a clutch in one recently. So if the motor has to come out you may need 2.LOL.
Gen 1 Legacy GT 3inch lift and 28's
i should expect it can be possible but maybe lifting it up if some bolts are covered

The later ones (Fiori shape) were an 800cc 4 cylinder, the earlier ones were 660cc and 2 cylinders of raw power
I haven't poked around with the newer ones but the older ones are dead simple, theres about a dozen or so bolts and 4 wires and the engine and gearbox are out, the hardest thing in the whole affair is getting the roll pins out of the CV's which should give you an idea of how easy it is.
You can do it on your own but 2nd person makes it quicker.
Jordan.

I get almost all (except filters, fluids and the occasional little bit) for my BMWs from bmaparts.com in the US. Fabulous service and prices that are one fifth of what the stealers charge here (then add a bit of freight). What put me on this path was being charged $502 for a throttle position switch for my M5 - same part (and I do mean same part) in the US was US$50. I've even had piston rings manufactured in Germany to order, shipped to the US and then to here at the same price ratio. I've airfreighted in struts for half the local cost too. Just keep your order under $1,000 and there is no import duty.
I see they do Soobie parts at bma too - but don't know how the price differentials are. Worth asking them.
