Got back from a holiday and the leak in my L series windscreen looks to have caused problems......(EJ22 converted L series)

1. when turning the ignition on the fuel pump doesn,t get power

2. the solenoids in the Liberty harness both got wet, there is a little corrosion on the pins, cleaned them up but made no difference

3. the solenoids both click on and off with the ignition, however the fuel pump power supply is not getting any voltage

4. if the solenoids were wet, could the ECU have been damaged when attempting to start the car?

5. WHat next? how do i determine if the solenoids are the issue or the ECU? Can the solenoids be purchased from a spare parts store or do i need to be thinking more along the lines of getting parts from a wreckers?

6. Anyone in PERTH got an EJ22 liberty harness sitting around ??????

I assume by solonoids your refering to the relays... and yes water on them does stuff them... I would check your fuses firstly. But i would dare say it is probably the relays stuffed up.

Aparently these are kinda expensive which is why i have re-wired mine to use normal relays instead.

I assume you don't have the Gregory's Liberty manual that tells u how to test the fuel pump relay.

Thanks Dave...yep I meant Relays (must have left brain on Holidays at Ningaloo)

I have a car manual somwhere in the shed, just havn't had a chance to check things out properly, only just got back and unpacked...went to move the Subi and discovered the problem!

will have a better look into it next weekend

i found the cheapy supercheap car covers reduce rainwater on carpet - not helpful at the moment but next rainy day.

Thanks Dave, I read the manual and should get a chance on the weekend to test the relays and find where the problem is.

interesting that you re-wired with normal relays.....if mine got frazzled I might look at doing similar......but not as fancy as your little black box!

The genuine relay is about $66.Very easy to test one side powers engine loom circuit the other the i can't remeber.I,ve had one fail.

Yeah might be a good time to change em for the easily available $10 normal relays... and then when your in trouble u can always swap it for a spot light relat or something.

To be really honest with you here, i have seen more of the $10 relays melt where the OEM relays done even get hot. IMHO the OEM ones are worth the money any day.

As suspected turned out to be the relay for the fuel pump, picked up a replacement relay that pluged straight in for $19....too easy!

next I went to fix the leaking windscreen and discovered a little more rust under the bottom edge than I had expected. There were a couple of holes straight into the inside of the car. All cleaned up, rust converted, filled and painted, should get it siliconed up tonight!

robdddd..what was the part number on the old relay if you still got it by chance. Did ya remove windscreen to see the rust ?

Old one went in the bin and I am not retrieving it as I know what has gone in on top of it!

The new one's package was still on the floor but i recall the numbers were different...the new one is a "NICE Product" (seriously that is wat it was called) and part number RW050 check their website http://www.niceproducts.com.au I just checked it out and it says it is from a TOYOTA (hopefully not a Hilux, I hate those!)

Also realised it only has a 1 year warranty!
