Adapter Plate Template/Plans

Post by Matatak » Sun Jul 22, 2007 9:58 pm

has anyone got a kinda template or plans on making their own adapter plate for the EJ to EA gboxs?

it wuld be nice to get atleast the shape and get that cut out first, then when i got the motors and that out i can sort out the holes and where to drill them out and etc.

Very easy to make the plate and the template.. Just need cardboard, EJ22 and EA gearbox..
I found lightly tapping the cardboard (not box type, but flat cardboard) with a hammer outlined where I needed to cut the template very well.. Just had to then make sure I kept the bottom two bolt holes on the template the right distance apart and mark onto your 12mm alloy.. Ofcause after all that I ended up using the front half of the D/R EJ box anyhow and never used my adapter plate.

Brett ( byb ) sells the gearbox adaptors. Your best bet is to buy one from him and save yourself a bunch of messing around.

If you have a good jig saw you wont brake it. Mine lived to cut another day.

wt if it was cut with a welder (ive heard how u can turn up the oxygen or sumthin and it will cut and not weld)
or an angel grinder with a cutting disc (not a grinding disc lol)

as in does ti have to be done with a jigsaw
any other ways it can eb done

I was under the impression that using a grinder on ally was a BIG no no.

And i think u need to be more procise than what blowing a hole with a welder could do. It is really not that hard to jig saw.... just set the jig saw to a slow speed and it chips away at it... If you try and do it fast it wont work.

i know engineering shops can laser cut it. But the jigsaw will go ok.
