Carby may not need a computer to run it, but it is itself a mechanical maze, and needs constant attention with cleaning, jets etc. It is very hard for a mechanical device to run well over the entire load range of engine hence why carbys are less efficient. Fuel injection uses a computer to *infinitely* adjust the fuel over load range. Still its interesting going over the history of carbys

off road i think a carby might be at a disadvantage on a steep incline for example.
EFI is better in pretty much every way. Thats why you have a tough time buying a new car which still has a carby, unless you are in Russia. (similar reason to why we don't use horse and carts any more as well!).

I reckon you can still buy 2-stroke cars new there...AndrewT wrote:Thats why you have a tough time buying a new car which still has a carby, unless you are in Russia.
Yes, if you can afford a fuel injected car then that is the way to go.

MPFI heads are different to carby heads which may be why they crack. Just make sure you never run too hot or run out of water and oil and reduce chances of things goin wrong. Carbys have a float chamber where fuel can slosh all over the place inside making running on some very steep inclines hard to deal with. efi will just need good fuel levels in fuel tank to prevent any problems on really steep stuff

Automatic Subarus doesnt come with Hi or Lo range. Only manual transmissions but not all of them.Learner wrote:i also forgot to ask. automatic car doesn't come with hi and lo range?
Injected engines is less work required than carby, if carby needs work its a PIA (pain in the A$$)

Sounds like the bushes or suspension related noise, while the car is stationary - push down the car up and down see if you hear the same squeak..
