Alex,

I feel for you mate! I too am going through the same thing. I had an accie lat march and did a home job to get me around and was ok for fire trail etc but it broke again. My two captive nuts were torn out also, the back one was the only one hanging on ast it already had a bolt through the floor. The insurance co would not cover that part of the damage as they said it had prior damage that wasn't fixed...kinda true.

Anyway I have just picked up a cheap touring wagon and will be swapping over my goodies. Pro job from two pro 4X4 fixing shops was $700 a side, more or less depending on how long it took plus material. And it would make sense to do it to the other side also... That was just too much for me so I now have a full parts car instead and a few hours of fun to get my car going again on the new shell.

Good luck mate!

I know Fatz has fixed his car similar issue, not sure how bad his damage was though.

Colin.

fantastic off topic **** again

liberty is seriously ****ed atm, in almost every way possible, gearbox, captive nuts which has turned out to be MUCH MUCH more severe then alex and i first thought, welding the block to the chassis was the start of some SERIOUS structual remodelling. to the degree of .....putting the chassis rails back on the car, but thats another story.

i have very limited access to the nmet atm, so responses will be few and far between.

being car-less is also severely bad, i got 2 cars, both of which not running (1 being enginless, currently awaiting donor engine).

and to top it all off im having some major issies regarding moving house and work etc...

speak 2 u guys soon

Sorry Dave thought the topic was closed due to Alex's report on your car (blocks welded and stronger than before etc).
What happened with the chassis and whats up with the gearbox?

1) steer clear from curbs....they do more damage then you can ever imagine.(didnt find this out untill 2 months later)
2) if u even have the slightest clicking in your suspension GET IT CHECKED, i didnt and it got worse and worse and worse and worse then bang..all over red rover(alex in similar situation there)

3)I have NO IDEA how this happened, all i know is i was driving my gf home one night and bang...the rear wheels slammed to and fro in the rear wheel arches. apart from that...no idea

time to move on, right after i spent so much time and effort and money on it. ah well **** happens i spose

I havn't seen the damage but I wonder if some good parts could be cut out and transferred from another good wagon? Remember 4MUFF still has that shmiko Lib wagon with front end damage only.
