EA82 Hitachi mod ?

Post by booma » Sat Dec 03, 2005 8:49 pm

Hey all,

I know on the old message board someone posted a piccie of the wire mod for a Hitachi carby.

I believe this opened the secondaries manually instead of the vacumn thus giving the extra boost earlier ?

Can some post the piccie ? and please correct my vagueness !

Cheers

This pic is someone elses (sorry I keep forgetting who) I've modified, it shows 2 ways of achieving the same result.

The original pic shows a section thats been welded on to control the secondaries.

My dodgy addition in red shows how to shape and place the wire, it wraps around the post and hooks over the hook shaped bar.

This all happens on the opposite side to the throttle cable.

You need to make it tight enough that it doesn't fall off but still moves freely, makes sure you give it thorough testing before even starting the engine, it can jam the throttle open, especially at full throttle, which you may have guessed is not good.

be well aware that there are about aprox. 7 different hitachi varieties on the EA82 alone!

so do expect variance!

when i had my s.hitachi, i managed to do this mod with simply a cable tie, whereas a mate of mine needed to have his linkages tack welded together and completely modified.
