Another Perth L Series

Post by VL400 » Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:32 am

Hey everyone,
Have been reading and learning heaps from this forum so thought id post a little about my latest ride. Picked up a stock 1988 L series a month or so ago for $500, was destined to be a pines basher but am having too much fun in it at the moment so it may end up as my 2nd daily hack. Its a povo pack with vinyl floors but is manual, dual range, bull bar, tow bar, working A/C (no heater though, stuffed core) and full service history from new! Since buying it have added (all spares from previous cars) cibie spotties, CB radio, CD/MP3 and some speakers and gave it a full service.

Been to wilbinga a couple times with it, but think i have screwed the clutch as the sand was so boggy and with 13" pizza cutters and no lift had to drive it pretty hard through some areas. Next trip will most likely be to wedge which will prob spell the end for the clutch and CVs (starting to make some pretty bad noises!)

Have a couple of pics that i will post up later but for now thats all, depending on how long it lasts may see a few perth members around the place as i try to get out somewhere every weekend. Carved up some hills in the pines at the end of sydney road in landsdale last night which was fun :)

Welcome to the forum, certainly don't sound like any old grandpa I know!

I've left 3 notes on cars I think...
One didnt get a response.
One was left on Matt's car (big co-incidence Vidler also left a note on his car on the same day in the same carpark!)
The other one turned out to be Tim's brother.

Thanks for the welcomes, found the forum when searching for lift kits i think it was - but then found they cost nearly as much as the car! Got no love notes sadly :( But then again the car is not really parked anywhere other than in my garage, the rest of the time its getting a belting in the pines or dunes :)

1991 Subaru L series enduro wagon--3" lift, kings, gabriels front with kybs back (no longer kybs back due to strut plates breaking at wedge), cb, .... Future mods are a pipedream at the moment due to money issues.

I really should start thinking of making a picture for my sig

Went and found some mud in the pines today. Had 6 other cars that ranged from a 2000 pulsar to a 1977 corolla to a caged gemini that some WA guys saw last pines trip. The Subi was easily the dirtiest there!!
