l series weighs in at about 1100kg
An ea82t produces 115hp

It has a power to weight ratio of roughly 105hp per tonne or 77kW per tonne

Doesnt sound like much, but more than a carby ea82,.. at 77hp/t or 57kW/t

Totally not worth it. Come take another look at my wagon's chassis rails... there's a lot more taken out than is needed for EJ.

Not that I regret your job on the chassis rails, they do clear the EJ turbo motor quite well, although the cut on the LH side goes back for miles!!!

And at the end of the day, EJ22's stomp EA82T's.

even if you do a twin overhead cam, you can get away with just "massaging" the rails enough to fit the motor in. I was looking at my mates brumby with ej20t the other day and it looks factory, he used a piece of round pipe and a square pipe with big hammer and lots of force.

Very close in performance indeed. But pit them against each other in completely stock form and I'd have to side with the EJ.

Yeah Vidler I would say probably not worth it...you have to do two conversions instead of one....and you have to find a decent EA82turbo too! Quite rare these days, I tried for a while when I first got the RX.
And as Tim says, you have to cut too much out of the rails compaired to a quadcam EJ.

there is an 83 my touring wagon in the quokka with an ea82t. took it for a test drive this arvo. motor sounds nice and tight. he's usure of km's and its mated to the stock 4spd dual range. he's open to offers and is advertised at $1500. this might be a good donk for your RX andrew.

his number is 0422900755
