Ok heres the info... Took radiator out and replaced with another one i had in the shed. Temperature sat fine where it should sit. Took it for a drive (a good long one) was all good and the temperature didnt move off where it should be. The next day---- took it for another test drive and the temperature came up, right up to the hot! pulled over and it had blown a little water hose underneath the carby. So got it home and replaced the hose with a new one and also fitted a cooler thermostat (170 degrees).
Took it for another test drive and it went like a dream! temp was sitting fine and where it should be.
But--- This is now the 3rd hose it has blown
1st hose was big heater hose
2nd hose was a little one on the left side of carby
3rd hose was another little one on the right side of the carby.
Why is it blowing the hoses? the only reason i can think of is that the hoses were old and brittle and they did get pretty hot a few times when the old radiator was in so they cracked?
any suggestions?
Car is running 100% now
thanks
