keep the unknown auto or go manual GLAT

Post by steptoe » Mon Mar 12, 2007 10:40 pm

Project Cheap Grief is coming together. It is a GLAT .

L Series sedan EA82T with an auto 4WD box .not all wheel drive.

Compliance plated as auto turbo 4WD, so no engineer worries

The auto is of unknown ability as have only driven it 100 metres before.

thinking the lazy way for starters and in a hurry to see this get going is to drop motor in and drive to rego and take risk that auto may be no good

or do i work on and chuck the manual box in and pedals and stuff around,

Impatience says just go auto - i need the practice of in/out/in/out to do manual later !!

what is also troubling my small brain is that on removal those turbo to exhaust studs did get in the way and I should have pulled off exhaust first BUT it is all welded together 2.5 inch that is bent by forklift journey and needs to be reinstalled before rebending occurs or it'll never fit again !!

that's what is troubling me at the mo'

well looks like you want the easyway out from what u just posted, but then again if its a cheap grief project then do it the harder way and put the manny in. will be more fun to drive in the long run :) i reckon anyway. go for that.

I would defiantly recommend putting a manual in, especially now that the car is already in bits, just saves you taking things apart again when you get sick of the auto (because you will get the s$!ts with it).

I'll give you a hand with it, it ain't that hard just fiddly with the pedal box.

Decided I need to teach myself a lesson and just get it going first, so then I will be able to give away an auto that I know works !

The pedal box, what a plick of a job that is in L series. I am a tail shaft short since swappin' things in the road going Brumby so auto looks to be the way at the moment. Thanks for the offer Thomas, when I am ready I'll get you the grog and just watch an experienced fella show how. PS your old auto was in pristine condition inside before it went to scrap - just got in the way too many times :)
