Swing away carrier.

Going to modify my wheel carrier to a stub axle bearing setup.I want to mount the hub to the bumper section and the stub axle to the arm the wheel mounts to.I haven't seem any done this way ,is this ok?Or is the standard stub in the bumper and hub on the arm the way to go?
