Strange lift
Hay everyone,
I was having a good look at the underside of my ute particulary the lift kit to make sure we were fitting the one on my m8s brumby right, and i noticed that my gearbox crossmember doesnt have lift blocks as such. it looks as tho they have taken the gearbox crossmember out and cut the bolt hole out to almost two inches diameter and welded a 2" long piece of tube over it and then put a new plate on top then drilled a new hole in that plate to put the bolt through.
I find it strange that the gearbos is done like this and the rest of it is done with lift blocks like anyonter kit i have seen.
any insite into this would be appricated
cheers,
ian

cool thanks, it looks very profesional. but i thought it was strange only having the gearbox crossmember like this, its going to make it hard to take out to put in the bigger kit im thinking about getting unless i manage to track down a new cross member

I dont know about the rear bump stops but i had another look and yea it is the caster/radiuus rod mounts that are lifted. i didnt realise that the g/box bolts to thoes mounts not the body.
can you tell me, subgiraffe, if your gear lever sits foward since fitting that lift? mine sits foward and bashes on the head unit when selecting 1st or 3rd. im starting to think it needs new gearbox mounts and its not a lift problem

By all means check your gearbox mounts are ok first but this could well be the cause of the lift kit. Pull your gearstick out and bend it to suit your driving position and furnishings.Brumby Boy wrote:can you tell me, subgiraffe, if your gear lever sits foward since fitting that lift? mine sits foward and bashes on the head unit when selecting 1st or 3rd. im starting to think it needs new gearbox mounts and its not a lift problem

I know the box mounts are rat sh!t, they are all colapsed, i dont realy want to go bending the lever if i can get away with it because its not just the gear lever, the transfer lever sits up i bit also.
