MY/Brumby Clutch Alignment Tool

Does anyone know where you can get a Clutch Alignment Tool to suit a Brumby 9" Clutch? Or the demonsions to make one?

The perth boys posted a neat trick a while ago, you leave the pressure plate bolts finger tight so the clutch can still move, then once it's all together tighten them through the starter motor opening, much easier ;)

Yup, that works better than any stupid universal clutch alignment tool.

Subaru starters sit on the wrong side of the flywheel, allowing access to the pressure plate bolts which are normally inaccessible on any other car.

If you have a spare gearbox input shaft laying around that works good as an alignment tool.

I can only think of a couple of tips, not really tricks:

I'd re-grease the pivot point for the clutch fork with a little CV grease (molybdenum disulphide). I'd also replace the spigot bearing while you've got it all apart, a 62012RS bearing costs less than $5. Mind you neither of these things are hugely necessary.

I don't think it was us WA boys that thought of it first, it certainly wasn't me thats for sure. Might be one of those things that several great minds independantly found.....lol.


EDIT: ooh- take care not to lose the little clips that hold the thrust bearing to the fork. If they are missing and you don't have any on hand, use a few small loops of handy wire instead.

CV grease is molybdenum disulphide is it ?

Used to have a tub of this and almost seems that no one stocks it anymore I might try asking someone who cares next time )

Yeah, CV grease should be molybdenum disulphide. I've seen some pretty dodgy looking greases come with CV joints before though.

6201 2RS is a standard bearing part number, the bearings I get are normally Nachi or NSK ones. Any good bearing supplier should know what you're on about if you give them that number.

I used old input shaft from a gearbox - its the best alignment tool!!!!
yes get a new 6201 bearing from CBC or SKF.
