oil in air-filter box(ea82)

Post by Alex » Sun Jan 21, 2007 9:50 pm

hi all,

lately my air-filter box has been filling up with oil, to the extent that i had a decent oil leak running from the little hole in the box down the motor and onto the floor...and its killing my air filters...

this was the biggest and first ever oil leak ive ever had, it only happens after reaming the car doing doughnuts, or in this case after doing a 350km trip sitting on 120-130 the whole way...

im not sure what to do, or whether its a sign my motor is on the way out...

any help would be great,

check your PCV hoses are all hooked up right. This was what my engine did. if its not pcv hoses being hooked up wrong, i think it would be excessive blowby presurising the crankcase.

I've had this exact same problem.

take the pcv hose off and make sure its not blocked. The ea82 motors are known for getting a carbon build up inside the hose leading to the pcv valve which can eventually lead to it being completely blocked.

also check that the little T piece that the pcv hose connectes into is also clear, there is a very small hole in the T piece that also get blocked easily.

and check that the pcv valve itself is working. It should rattle when you take it out and shake it.
